Nationwide Digital E-Fapiao Rollout Implemented on December 1, 2024

China’s State Taxation Administration (STA) has successfully implemented the fully digitalized e-fapiao system nationwide as of December 1, 2024.

This milestone follows a pilot program launched on December 1, 2021, which progressively expanded across the country. Now, all taxpayers—not only those previously selected or newly registered—are authorized to issue e-fapiao invoices.

Additionally, as of the same date, digital e-fapiao has been introduced for domestic civil aviation passenger services. Airlines in China can now issue these digital invoices for travelers using their services.

The STA has affirmed that digital e-fapiao invoices carry the same legal status as paper versions. To ensure smooth adoption, a centralized platform for issuing and managing e-fapiao is now accessible nationwide.
