Malaysia Releases Updated Peppol Specifications to Support E-Invoicing Rollout

Malaysia has taken another step forward in implementing its national e-invoicing mandate with the release of updated Peppol PINT specifications. Version 1.2.0, published on June 3, 2025, introduces refinements to both billing and self-billing processes, aligning with the latest requirements set by the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (IRBM).

Key Updates in Version 1.2.0

Peppol has released two updated specifications under version 1.2.0:

  • PINT BIS Malaysia Billing Process 1.2.0: This specification supports standard Malaysian billing using the Peppol International Invoice (PINT) methodology. It includes structures for both Invoice and Credit Note transactions.
  • PINT BIS Malaysia Self-Billing Process 1.2.0: Tailored for self-billing scenarios, this specification also adheres to the PINT methodology and covers self-billing invoice and credit note transactions. It shares the same data model as PINT MY Billing, ensuring consistency across document types.

These new versions replace the earlier 1.1.0 release from November 2024 and further strengthen Malaysia’s alignment with Peppol Business Interoperability Specifications (BIS). The updates aim to streamline invoicing workflows, support tax compliance, and ensure smooth interoperability between e-invoicing platforms.
