Germany Releases ZUGFeRD 2.3.3 Update
On May 7, 2025, Germany published version 2.3.3 of the ZUGFeRD e-invoicing format. This latest release aligns with the EU’s EN 16931 standard and strengthens the country’s readiness for mandatory B2B e-invoicing.
What’s New in ZUGFeRD 2.3.3
The new version introduces several enhancements:
- Updated EN 16931 code lists
- Editorial and validation improvements
- Added support for French VAT exemption codes (VATEX)
- More flexible rounding rules in the EXTENDED profile
ZUGFeRD combines a human-readable PDF/A-3 invoice with an embedded XML file, making it ideal for automated invoice processing. The new version helps businesses standardize their invoicing practices in line with Germany’s evolving e-invoicing requirements.
